ROV Operator

NL Marine Services Inc. is a Newfoundland and Labrador owned and operated support and service company dedicated to the continued growth of the province’s aquaculture and oil and gas sectors. With its aquaculture operations based in the Placentia Bay area, NL Marine Services Inc. operates various service vessels providing a wide range of services, from net handling and installation to harvesting and treatment support to cage cleaning, for the aquaculture industry.

A dynamic and growing family company, NL Marine Services Inc., is seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Company’s team in the role of ROV Operator for our specialized net cleaner vessel, the Red Islander.

Qualifications:

  • Recognized Certificate of Training in the marine or mechanical field, with formal training in ROV operations considered an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience operating ROV equipment, with experience operating remote cleaners for salmon nets considered an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and other computer applications.
  • Knowledge of safe working regulations within a marine environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the ROV and all systems and subsystems are in working order and in compliance with all technical requirements.
  • Launch remote operated cleaning equipment from the surface of the water.
  • Operate the ROV from a fully equipped pilot chair.
  • Maintain the ROV and its associated equipment and carry out repairs on location.
  • Promote a safe, courteous atmosphere and strive to make improvements in a professional manner.
  • Effective team player with the ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment; and willingness to step in and do hands on work when required.

An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Salary will commensurate with qualifications and experience. On the job training will be provided.
