Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all aspects of the operation of the vessel, including safe navigation, regulatory adherence, cleanliness, safe handling of all cargo and management of all personnel.
  • Capable of identifying potential hazards associated with the operation of the vessel.
  • Proficient in maintaining records as per regulations and company policies.
    Responsible for maintaining the ship’s certificates and documentation.
  • Oversee inspections of all safety and emergency equipment.
  • Schedule and execute routine emergency drills as required by NL Marine and Transport Canada.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of all vessels, including preventative maintenance oversight, scheduling of crew and supplying the vessels.

Chief Mate

Qualifications:

Responsibilities:

  • Perform duties of the captain in their absence.
  • Manage the deck crew to ensure they follow safe working practices as defined by Company policies and procedures; and identify potential ship hazards associated with deck operations and advise the captain accordingly.
  • Monitor communication equipment and keep logs and records as required by Transport Canada.
  • Maintain and routinely inspect all safety and emergency equipment; record inspections in appropriate logbooks; and ensure safety equipment is well-organized, operable and available for emergency use.
  • Coordinate with the captain the scheduling and execution of routine emergency drills.
  • Perform navigational watches in accordance with normal bridge management procedures; and maintain navigational and communication equipment.
  • Complete the vessel inspection checklist and conduct administrative duties including vessel chart inventory, creating and maintaining training schedules, vessel certifications and employee certification logs.

Deckhands

Responsibilities:

  • Perform general maintenance work so that the vessel and equipment is clean, safe, and operational.

ROV Operator

Qualifications:

  • Recognized Certificate of Training in the marine or mechanical field, with formal training in ROV operations considered an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience operating ROV equipment, with experience operating remote cleaners for salmon nets considered an asset.

  • Perform metal fabrication and machine work when required, including the use of lathe, welding equipment and other similar equipment.
