Marine Service Technician

NL Marine Services Inc. (NL Marine) is a Newfoundland and Labrador owned and operated company that operates a wide range of vessels that support the province’s aquaculture industry.

We are seeking a skilled Marine Service Technician with expertise in mechanical, electrical and electronic troubleshooting and repair to join our aquaculture service team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing our fleet of vessels and equipment ensuring smooth operations while minimizing downtime.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in marine mechanics and electrical systems.
  • Ideal candidate would have a strong understanding of marine systems, including engines, hydraulics, cranes, electrical systems, propulsion systems, and navigation equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexible schedule to meet the demands of the role.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repairs on marine vessels and equipment.
  • Act as the first response to technical failures on vessels, with the objective of returning them to operation as quickly as possible and at the lowest possible cost.
  • Maintain the workshop and spare parts inventory at the company’s base in Marystown.
  • Make necessary preparations to ensure readiness for unforeseen technical breakdowns.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on the company’s tools and equipment.
  • Collaborate with vessel teams to prioritize and complete tasks efficiently.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule to accommodate operational needs.

An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered. Salary will commensurate with qualifications and experience.
