Deckhands

NL Marine Services is a specialized vessel support and supply company jointly owned and operated by leading aquaculture service providers from Newfoundland and Norway. We are seeking highly motivated individuals to join the team in the role of Deckhands for our various vessels.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Transport Canada Seafarers Medical
  • Previous deckhand experience, FM4, or ERR considered an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience maintaining engine room machinery and deck equipment is considered an asset.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with vessel operations and deck activities during marine service operations.
  • Perform general maintenance duties to ensure the vessel and equipment remain clean, safe, and operational.
  • Operate deck equipment and vessel machinery safely in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Assist with mooring operations and the loading and unloading of cargo and supplies.
  • Wear, inspect, and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE), and participate in emergency response and occupational health and safety training.
  • Promote a safe, respectful, and professional work environment while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work flexible hours and varying schedules, including overtime when required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Marine Maintenance Manager

NL Marine Services is a specialized vessel support and supply company jointly owned and operated by leading aquaculture service providers from Newfoundland and Norway. Our mission is to support the sustainable growth of Newfoundland and Labrador’s aquaculture industry by delivering reliable, high-quality marine services rooted in both international expertise and deep local knowledge.

NL Marine Services is currently recruiting a Marine Maintenance Manager to support operations in Placentia Bay.

Reporting to the General Manager, the Marine Maintenance Manager leads all technical and maintenance operations of the fleet, ensuring vessels, equipment, and ROV systems are maintained safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory requirements. This role provides hands-on leadership in maintenance planning, troubleshooting, repairs, dry docks, and refits while working closely with vessel crews, contractors, suppliers, and regulatory authorities to minimize downtime and support reliable, cost-effective operations.

Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of marine systems (engines, hydraulics, cranes, electrical, propulsion, and navigation).
  • Proven marine mechanical and electrical experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and execute refits, dry docks, and planned maintenance.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance software.
  • Familiarity with Class Societies, TCMS regulatory inspections and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborative, multidisciplinary team player; hands-on when needed.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Able to work independently and in a team.
  • Flexible schedule to meet operational needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee all technical operations of the fleet.
  • Ensure vessels and assets are maintained to minimize downtime and loss of hire.
  • Provide day-to-day technical support to crews, including troubleshooting and fault diagnosis.
  • Coordinate repairs with crews, service providers, and suppliers to ensure timely resolution of technical issues.
  • Prepare and manage maintenance budgets, forecasts, and spare parts planning.
  • Carry out and support mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repairs as required.
  • Act as first responder to technical failures, restoring operations quickly and cost effectively.
  • Manage planned maintenance, refits, and dry docks, including supervision of contractors.
  • Monitor maintenance costs against budget and implement cost control measures.
  • Oversee procurement, inventory, and management of critical spares.
  • Inspect and audit vessels to ensure machinery, structure, safety, and navigation systems are compliant and fit for purpose.
  • Ensure ROV systems are fully operational and technically compliant.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities and manage fleet certification and compliance with TCMS and Class.
  • Support ISM Code technical requirements and promote company standards and safety culture.
